My latest work was created during the pandemic. It was a scary, lonely time and the political situation only added to my stress. To help me stay focused and unify my artistic thoughts, I tried making some diptychs. But I didn’t want any artistic limitations.

I work by reacting to the material at hand and to what develops unconsciously as my emotions and thoughts pour out on the canvas. Often it is not until after I finish and reflect that I understand the meaning of what I have created. Some of my paintings are of peaceful images with shapes respecting their own space, while some forms seem defiant, and still others are searching for contact. This time is chaotic and I expect my work to continue to try and make sense of what is happening in the world around me.
