THREE LEGS

Three-legged, anthropomorphic ceramic sculptures have been part of my visual language for some time. I am drawn to the surprise of an odd number and the unconventional balance it creates. The legs suggest the potential for movement and contribute to the overall gesture of the form. Surface color and texture vary widely, ranging from underglaze and glaze to terra sigillata and even insulation foam. Some sculptures have two heads, while others have none. Humor is often present, operating as an entry point into the work.
