After my divorce, I knew I would not have room for most of my furniture when I moved out on my own. I tried to sell some of it, but I was disheartened to learn that my cherished dining room table and my antique kitchen chairs had little monetary value. So instead of making a meager amount of money, I took my furniture apart and made sculpture. I decided to combine chair parts with ceramics. I responded to specific parts of the furniture by making organic shapes with clay. I even created paintings on my dining room table and made a triptych with the table leaves. It was so much fun that I then started to repurpose doors. It is nice to know both the furniture and myself are having a second life.
